Dear Stingray Swimmers & Parents,

 

     Welcome to the 2008 Recreation Swim Season. Our first meet is undecided. We are currently working on the meet schedule. Practice will be held this year at the Recreation Pool and occasionally at the Gordon college pool. Practice is vital for your child to be a successful competitive swimmer.

    

     All swimmers will need a team swim suit. This year it will be the same design that we used last year. Cost with the team order will be approximately $55 for the girls and $45 for the guys. Swim caps are $9. We would like to order caps that are coordinated with the suits so that everyone matches. Goggles can be purchased at Ultimate Sports, Hibbitt, Wal-Mart and meets that we attend.

 

     Swim meets are a lot of fun!! We encourage every swimmer to participate in as many as possible. Parents are responsible for getting their child to the meets. There is a $15 fee per day per meet that will be due in early May. This covers the cost of the team entering you in the meets that you will attend. If you know that you will not be able to attend a meet due to vacations, etc, let us know as soon as possible. If you are signed up and paid for a meet but are unable to attend, the money is non-refundable by the host team. If your child qualifies and enters the State Swim meet, but does not attend or swim their event, you will be responsible for a scratch fee.

 

    We are sure all new swimmers have questions that are not covered in this letter. We will have an orientation meeting on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at 7pm at the Civic Center

    Swimmers must attend two meets in June to qualify for district. First, second, and third place at district will qualify to swim at State. The State meet will be announced later.
