MEMO TO:               SKATERS AND PARENTS

FROM:                    MINDY DANIEL

RE:                         WAIVERS, RULES & REGULATIONS,

                             HOURS OF OPERATION

Sorry you missed our orientation meeting held on December 18, 2006.  During our meeting the following items were reviewed.

Skatepark will open on Tuesday, January 2, 2007.  It will be open M-F from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and on Saturdays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm during winter months.  During the summer hours will be extended M-F from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.  Open Saturdays during summer from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.  Skate park is open only when Civic Center is open.  It will be closed on Sundays and holidays.  Park also will be closed when park surfaces are wet or icy.  It is best for skaters to call Civic Center prior to attending, when weather may cause park to close.

Attached are the posted rules and regulations for participants to follow while skating.  IT IS MANDATORY FOR ALL SKATERS TO WEAR A HELMET.  If participants cannot follow rules and regulations, they will be asked to leave.  Suspension and or expulsion may result from habitual violations.

Also attached are two items that must be completed and returned.  All skaters must have a signed waiver form.  Anyone 17 years and under must have legal guardian sign waiver form.  Waivers must be notarized.  The second sheet is a participant’s information sheet with emergency phone numbers.  Both of these items must be on file with Recreation Department before a skater may enter skatepark.  Once documentation is filed with Recreation Department, skater will receive a wristband.  Skaters must wear wristband when visiting skate park.  SkatePark is free for any one to use, if proper waivers/documents are on file.

Skaters are on the Honor System to make sure that rules and regulations are followed.  We ask that no one share wristbands.  If someone loses wristband...we will replace for a small fee.  If someone who has not completed documentation...somehow gets a wristband...then we have two skaters who will not be able to participate.     Honor systems also means...that skaters report problems to Recreation Staff as soon as possible to reduce potential hazzards.  For example...someone is skating with out a helmet or someone is skating without signing waiver forms.  We need your help to make sure the skatepark runs smoothly.

If you and/or parents have any questions, please contact Mindy Daniel at Civic Center 706-647-9691.  We are looking forward to having you enjoy this new facility.
