2009 CLOSING DAY OF FISHING PHOTOS

The pond is open to Seniors 50 years & over or disabled persons to fish on Monday, and Thursday  from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm.  Pond will open Monday, May 17, 2010.

The Thomaston-Upson Recreation Department is proud to stock and manage the City/County fishpond for use by local fishing enthusiast.  However, without the assistance of our volunteer custodians, this fishing privilege would not be possible.  With that in mind, certain rules are necessary for the public to utilize our facility.
Those rules are as follows:

~Any person 50 years of age and older, or with a disability verified in writing by a physician, is allowed to fish at the fish pond on scheduled fishing days.

~Disabled persons, if not already approved, must provide a written statement from physician to the Civic Center for approval by the Recreation Director before they will be allowed to fish.

~Persons accompanying the above persons will be allowed inside the fence, if sufficient room is available.  However, only senior citizens and disabled persons may fish.

~There is no charge for seniors and disabled persons to fish on scheduled days.

~NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES are allowed on the premises.  (Inside or outside fence).

~There is No limit on the number of catfish, bream, or bass one may catch per day.  Persons intentionally injuring fish in order to keep will be banned from fishing.

~All fish removed from the pond must be shown to the custodian before leaving the facility.  This is so that an accurate record can be kept of the pond population.

~All types of bait will be allowed.

~Anyone disorderly or refusing to obey the pond custodian will be asked to leave the premises and not be allowed to return without written permission from the Recreation Director.

~Persons fishing must remove all equipment, chairs, bait and trash from the pond each day.   Chairs left overnight will be disposed of.
